Avast IS 2015 is blocking my Java 8

Hi all,

I have been looking for almost an hour now on this forum, to find a solution, but so far I couldn’t find anything. I therefore hope it is ok, to post my issue here.

I made a system restore today, removed everything and wanted to start from the manufacture settings on my pc. As I installed Avast 15 again, Firefox and Java as the most important things, I wanted to verify my Java version. However it seems that Avast Firewall is blocking my usage of Java. I have given access for all connections in the Avast Firewall rules for Java, but Java only works if I disable the Firewall in the Avast settings.

Acer Aspire M3300
Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium
8 GB RAM
Avast Internet Security 2015 Version 2015.10.2.2218
Virusdatabase version 150627-0

Having the same issues here with several customers of ours. I have submitted a support ticket to Avast. I’ll try to update this thread when I have a response.
