Avast IS 2015, issues with firewall and safezone

I have IS 2015 on two laptops, same account. I noticed today issues with the install on the laptop running Win7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit. Firewall does not seem to be working. Windows shows Avast firewall on, but when I click firewall under tools in the Avast window, I get the message, “We strongly recommend rebooting your system first. Some firewall features may only start working after a reboot.” I’ve rebooted (and power cycled) several times with no change.
Also, when I attempt to open safezone, I get a popup that says, “Sorry, the process virtualization feature will be activated upon reboot of the system. Do you want to reboot the system now?” As above, rebooting does not fix anything.
The same version of Avast works fine on the other laptop, which runs Win7 Ultimate 32-bit.
Windows and Avast are fully updated on both systems.
I tried running the repair process, this didn’t change anything.

As you have already tried to repair Avast!, and that didn’t help, try a clean install :

Download the Avast! Uninstall Utility to your desktop.
Also download Avast! Internet Security

Disconnect from the internet.
Uninstall Avast! via control panel.

Run the Uninstall Utility and accept the reboot to safe mode.
Once complete reboot your system.
Reinstall Avast!

Make sure you have removed any av (pre-installed) before trying to do a clean installation of avast.
