Hello, so a little while ago my pc was infected by a trojan and it blocked avast and malwarebytes but I managed to delete it with avg.
After I had deleted it, I installed avast again but I still got the same error. I scanned my pc many times with AVG but it couldn’t find anything. I also tried to scan with Esset smart security 7 but it didn’t find anything either.
So now I installed avast again but I still get the same error and I can’t fix it.
Could somebody help me with this?
Thanks
start a New topic in viruses and Worms forum section…
follow instructions and attach (not copy and paste) Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR logs. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
Oke thanks
Here are the logs from FRST
And GMER
Hmmm… strange…since i asked for Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR logs :
Anyway a log expert is notified and will take a look
Intriguing this has specifically targeted Avast using group policy settings
Lets see if we can change that
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
A log will be generated please post that
Then try Avast
I can’t use malwarebytes either because it gives the same error.
Here is the log by the way.
Oke thanks it seems like my problem is solved thanks but I got one more problem since that virus got into my system I couldn’t use windows media player any more. And I can’t use it now either. What should I do?
I get an error saying : “failed to load control windows media player from wmp.dll. Your version of wmp.dll may be outdated. Make sure you’re using the control that was provided with you application.”
OK download and run the correct version of SURT from here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 and let me know if that cures it … For Malwarebytes do a full uninstall and re-install
Continue with Magna as it is pointless us working at cross purposes
Nope didn’t cure it, magna says I should work with you.
OK what are the current problems ? What version of windows media player do you have
I’m using windows media player 12, I get an error saying : “failed to load control windows media player from wmp.dll. Your version of wmp.dll may be outdated. Make sure you’re using the control that was provided with you application.” I downloaded and ran the version you said I should download but nothing has changed.
OK lets re-install it next
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features
- Go to “Turn Windows Features On or Off”
- Turn Media Features:Windows Media Player off
- Reboot
- Turn Media Features:Windows Media Player on again
It didn’t work, I dont get an error message now. I click and nothing happens.
Have you installed any third party codecs ?
Download a fresh copy of media player from here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/download-windows-media-player
No I haven’t maybe the virus infected the wmp.dll in windows media player maybe we could replace that dll.
On that site you gave me wasn’t any download link for windows 7 ultimate.
The link is for all variants of windows 7
We can check but I believe it may be corrupted as opposed to infected
