Avast is blocking google and gmail

Hi,

I am using Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1 on Windows XP Prof. SP3.
I can’t access google or gmail (all google websites), all shows that this is due to my AVAST 2014.9.0.2008.
As I switch it off than I can access above mentioned sites.

Can you advise what can I do? How can I unbock these sites in AVAST?

if you right click avast tray icon and pause webshield …does it work then ?

have you tried avast repair?
controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall/change > repair option … wait a minute and reboot

any change?

It could be, like many others, the “avast online security” plug-in.
Try disabling the AOS plug-in. :slight_smile:

Uninstall 2014 and reinstall version 8. Version 8 works. You should not have to disable your AV to get other programs to work.

Is there any other security program that could be interfering? Old antivirus, firewall, etc.?
Everything is working fine here…
Maybe trying an installation repair or even an installation from scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. (Optional) If you want, save your avast! settings for later restoration (Settings > Maintenance > Back up).
  4. Uninstall avast! from Control Panel (if possible) and reboot.
  5. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1 in and follow the instructions. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode, uninstall avast! and then reboot in Normal Mode again.
  6. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Register your free copy or add the license key for the paid versions. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Please, be patient, boot when it’s said to boot…

Yes, no change
avast online security, try disabling the AOS plug-in.
I have a free polish version of AVAST, I can't find it and don't know where this option is?

Avast Online Security (AOS) is actually a plug-in in your Firefox browser. In order to disable it, while in Firefox go to “Tools” → “Add-ons”. Then disable the avast Online Security Plugin and reboot Firefox. See if this helps with your Gmail and Google problem.

Well as i already said, avast 2014 still blocking my iTunes getting opened each time i connect my ipod, not an extremely serious issue but doesn’t want me to use still that avast version.

SOLUTION FOUND:
It seems that the problem was caused by Avast Online Security, I have found it installed as a plugin in my web browser.
It is disabled now and all seems ok, google sites are not blocked anymore (Thanks Para-Noid and Gandalf1369).
