AVAST IS BLOCKING MY ACCESS TO HOTMAIL... PLEASE HELP ME!!

SINCE I HAVE INSTALLED AVAST INTERNET SECURITY 6.0.1091 I CAN’T ACCESS HOTMAIL AND WINDOWS LIVE MAIL… I JUST CAN DO IT FROM THE SAFE ZONE BUT I CAN’T DOWNLOAD FILES

Please don’t scream…!!
And provide more info.
Thanks,
asyn

I’m sorry I don’t wanted to scream, I didn’t notice the caps when I wrote my message.
Excuse my English, it is not so good.

The problem I have occurs when I tried to open the www.hotmail.com or login.live.com sites.
I get the following message:

The web page is not available
The web page at http://www.hotmail.com/ may be temporarily unavailable or has been permanently moved to a new web address.
Error 101 (net:: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.

I have the problem only with this two sites.

The problem is still there?

What is your Version of Avast? AIS / Pro / Free? Version number?

What are your Virus defs?

(see screenshot - click on pic below)

The problem is still here…
My version is AIS 6.0.1091 and the Virus def is 110429-1

And this happens because of Avast? How do you know that?

Because if I’ll try to access Hotmail from the safe zone I have no problem, while if I try to access normally from my browser out of the safe zone I can’t open Hotmail ???

Safe zone is totally isolated from your system and also uses Avast
Ergo you may have a problem within your system

Download OTS to your Desktop and double-click on it to run it

[*]Make sure you close all other programs and don’t use the PC while the scan runs.
[*]Select All Users
[*]Under additional scans select the following
Reg - Disabled MS Config Items
Reg - Drivers32
Reg - NetSvcs
Reg - SafeBoot Minimal
Reg - Shell Spawning
Evnt - EventViewer Logs (Last 10 Errors)
File - Lop Check

[*]Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%*.exe
/md5start
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
/md5stop
%systemroot%*. /mp /s
hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /rs
CREATERESTOREPOINT

[*]Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar. Make sure not to use the PC while the program is running or it will freeze.
[*]When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
[*]Please attach the log in your next post.

Done…Here is the log

exactly what I thought, the system’s probably infected and the SZ doesn’t suffer from it.

The log isn’t ansi, and I didn’t bother do try to read it all, but from the part of Hosts-file alone I think there are some real problems… ;D

and so what I should do to repair it?.. I’m not an expert… :o

Wait for essexboy, he’ll guide you.

Hi could you re-submit the OTS scan please but ensure it is saved as ANSI (see screenshot)

Start OTS. Copy/Paste the information in the quotebox below into the panel where it says “Paste fix here” and then click the Run Fix button.

[Unregister Dlls]
[Registry - Safe List]
< HOSTS File > ([2011/04/30 12:05:54 | 000,000,789 | ---- | M] - 21 lines) -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
YN -> Reset Hosts ->
[Custom Items]
:Files
ipconfig /flushdns /c
:end
[Empty Temp Folders]
[EmptyFlash]
[CreateRestorePoint]

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Here is the log… thanks!!!

iguanita could you now re-run OTS please - again remembering to save as ANSI and I will see what else needs removing, are you able to access your mail now ?

I have a foreboding… ;D hosts-file tampering seldom comes alone.
