I’ve seen a lot of discussions about this on various forums lasting many months. I got a new PC yesterday and installed AVAST using my licence (which runs until November 2018). Ironically i just renewed it on the old PC when the whole PC crashed and died. So I have 51 weeks left on a licence - BUT i can’t use the licence as it keeps going down. I’ve tried the repair - as suggested by others - I’ve also uninstalled and re-installed and uninstalled and re-installed… but to no avail. Has anyone managed to find a solution, or should i just be giving up, asking for my money back and moving to another provider? Avast has been great for the many years I;ve used it, until now. I’ve contacted the help centre, but had no response. I use Avast Premium, but i also tried installing the free version and the same thing happens. Help!

Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

The license is counting down whether you’re actually using it or not from the day you bought it. What’s happening with your computer is your own thing.
I’m not sure what you’re actually experiencing as a problem to be quite frank, but from what I understand, you have a problem with computer and you can’t use it while avast! license is running out…
Same problem here. Started about a month ago. (Nov. 2017) Avast will only stay turned on for about 5 minutes, and then it is turned off, so I’ve got to constantly watch the tray icon, and restart it every 5 minutes or so. I tried the Repair feature. Didn’t work. Reinstalled. Didn’t help. Did a “clean” reinstall with the Avast uninstaller in safe mode. Didn’t work either. I don’t know what else to try. Has anyone found a fix for this?
What version of Avast are you using ??? Free or Paid ??? What other security related programs are installed ??? What operating system ???
Using: Avast Free 17.9/ CPU-AMD A10 6800K/ RAM-8gb/ OS: Win 10 Home 64bit/ with MalwareBytes Free 2.2, MalwareBytes Anti-Ransomeware, SuperAntiSpyware, SpyBot Anti-Beacon, and UnhackMe.

If not, start by updating to the latest version.
All you need is Avast and Malwarebytes.
Yes, that is the version I am using. See the attachment. I suspect that this problem began when I updated to this version, but I am not exactly sure.
What version of windows are you running ???

That update apparently hasn’t been pushed in this part of the world yet, so I did a manual update.
Unfortunately, it didn’t solve the problem. Avast keeps going down every few minutes.
Thanks Hectic. I sent in the support package just now, but I can’t notify them by email separately because I’m using the free version. Hopefully they’ll be willing to troubleshoot it. We’ll see…

I wasn’t sure about the message ID. The instructions on the Avast site say that an ID is generated at Step 1, and that I should include the ID in the description in Step 5. But I didn’t receive any message ID until after I submitted the support package, (and neglected to write it down the first time). So I regenerated a new support package. Same thing happened. Then I discovered the ID is part of the file name of the support package.
The ID for my first submission was 8JUOU, and for the second time it was 99I1P. Hope this helps.
One other incidental problem. Don’t know if it is relevant or not, but I suppose I should mention it just in case. There are no Avast entries in my WinExplorer context menu, so I cannot easily scan individual files. The entries used to be there, and I used to use them often, but they disappeared. Even the clean reinstall did not restore them.
