Avast IS firewall and Windows Firewall active after reinstall.

Do I need to disable Windows firewall? I noticed on my other PC there is a message in Windows firewall that says these settings are being managed by Avast internet security, and Windows firewall is off. Why did it not do this on the reinstall? Now whenever I start my PC, everything I open freezes. However, if I log in to safe mode, everything runs fine. This all started when my Avast software malfunctioned after a power surge. I tried to repair it, but it didn’t work, so I uninstalled it. My PC ran super fine with it uninstalled. Then I reinstalled it and it started freezing again. That is when I checked the firewall. I guess I just need to know should I turn off windows firewall and why didn’t avast take the firewall over on install like it did on my other computer?

  • Which version of AIS…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?

NM…I ran a boot scan, and when it restarfted, the windows forewall was off and Avast took over. Thanks!

OK, no problem.
