I found and disabled this feature. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. I don’t want the people I sent emails to seeing some crappy Avast ad. It’s also super creepy that it can invade my browser even with the Firefox plugin disabled. (Which it enabled without my permission AGAIN. I complained about this exact same thing earlier.)
Have you rebooted the system since you made the change ???
This actually has nothing to do with the issue you reported previously, it isn’t a firefox add-on.
You don’t say what version of avast that you have installed, so I will have to presume it is the latest 2016.11.1.2253:
I suspect you have switched this off in the Mail Shield, but that doesn’t work for webmail and why it has reverted.
Check the AvastUI > Settings > General - uncheck the ‘Enable Avast email signature.’
I’m sorry I didn’t make this clearer. The plugin-re-enabling is a completely different problem then what I was actually reporting. I just thought I’d mention my previous problems because they were both in regards to privacy.
I just don’t understand who thought it was a good idea to include an email signature without getting the user’s consent. (If it’s hidden in the EULA I still don’t count that as consent no matter what it says legally)
See this response from MartinZ when I raised this earlier.

What ever the propsed solution actually was, he said it will be “live by next week”, posted on Feb 9 2016
All these kinds of settings in avast are to their benefit, not yours (ours).

Strange that you didn’t see fit to reply to MartinZ in the thread you’ve linked here but,
have no problem using that link to continue your agenda. >:(
Are you out of your mind? What agenda? There is plently of discussion in the original thread. What do I need to engaage MartinZ on at this point?
I was merely trying to pass some history of this outrageous violation of users email integrity to the OP.
Perhaps you don’t think avast turning a users private email communication into spam is a big deal ? It’s wrong on its own terms,
regardless of any other considerations. Simple as that.
