I have no idea if I am in the right board. You have one of the most confusing forums I have ever been in. I have tried for a half-hour to start a new post!
In any event, I can’t get into YouTube, because Avast! is reporting it as a “malicious website”!
Please send me to the right board, if this is the wrong one, and tell me how the heck I’m supposed to start a new Topic!
I wanted to add my voice. I can get into almost any YouTube page except my own account, there Avast blocks it as “malicious”. I’m sure I can either disable the Network scanner or use the exclusion suggestion, but that only patches the problem on my end. Avast needs to do something about this bug.
@Bob3160: That’s a good idea, but sort of like a “duct tape” approach to the problem. I shouldn’t have to use a “workaround” of any kind! This is an Avast! problem that need to be addressed and fixed ASAP. I’m sure that more than just a few websites are involved.
Naturally, all this has to occur on Christmas, of course. . . .
These Forums are all well and good, but how do we know that the Avast! team is looking at them? If they don’t know about something, how can they fix it?
From what I can tell, there appears to be a report problems Email link that goes directly to the Avast! team, but it seems a bit too complicated for a semi-computer literate person like me.
It would be nice if a “moderator” for this particular forum were present, then we might get some action!
I just tried and have no problem accessing youtube using Avast and Firefox. I never had to put it in any list and my virus protection is up to date.
Why would it cause a problem to just a few?
RoRo ???
Remember that it’s Christmas today.
If it’s a false positive, they’ll make the correction.
If it isn’t, then you have a problem and you’ll need to solve it.
From my experience and what I’m seeing from others, it’s not just getting to any old YouTube pages, it’s when I try to go to my “Account” page that Avast blocks me. I’m sure Tech is right, they’ll fix it. I just hope they do before there’s a storm of bad publicity for Avast.
BTW, I paused the network scanner on my machine and that did the trick for letting me into the blocked pages. But that’s a quick and dirty workaround.
This was a problem with our blocker generator tool. I fixed it manually, will be in the next vps update.
This was not blocking youtube, this was blocking ANYTHING/account, due to a bug in a generator.
I’ll try to clarify, it’s not an issue of logging in or even viewing videos, it’s when you are logged in and try to go to your own “Account” page that it gets blocked. You may not even have an account page if you don’t post videos. I’ve got well over a hundred videos posted and this is a problem for me. I can work around it but I’m used to that sort of thing. Many users won’t have a clue what to do.
