Since I updated the Avast Free to newest version, it started spinning the icon. I kinda like a silent virus scanner unless there is something to report, so I tried to turn this off.
I found I am unable to do so. Any changes to the settings are not saved once I click Ok.

Your previous version of Avast should also of had a spinning icon, it shouldn’t spin continually when the system is idol though when busy avast will be monitoring/scanning everything that is happening and the spinning icon is letting you know it’s scanning.
Using the repair function did not make any difference.
In the previous version that spinning was turned off, and the settings could be saved.
same problems here, repair doesnt help.

Its always the same. Settings cant be changed. You check boxes or uncheck, click ok and its gone.
Click settings again and everything is on default.
Windows 7.
Always repaired.
Always uninstalled.
Always restarted in Safe Mode and used avastclear.exe to remove.
Restarted and installed other version with same resaults.
