A quick scan of recent stuff on this forum seems to suggest lots of Win32:Evo-gen[Susp] false positives. Getting the user to add exceptions manually for each one seems like a strong reason to change AV. Avast needs to sort this pronto.
I did, or at least I believe I did (filled in a form from with Avast, last checkbox ticked was something like “Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”, which I found grimly amusing). But other people have apparently been struck with the same problem with other software recently, if my quick scan of this forum is correct. So I’m not sure why my posting should provoke an immune system response… :
I had some of these a few months ago, reported them, and added them to exclusions. Then a month or so later removed the exclusions and the false positives were no longer reported. Avast does act on these things.
Unsaid here is that this Win32:Evo-Gen check does something useful. They’re preserving that while refining the false positive detection rate.
As far as I have seen from 3rd party test reports, Avast has one of the lowest false positive report rates.
