I have Power DVD 12. I have been using Avast for many years and never had such a problem. I have watched movies with Avast installed on this computer up to a few months ago; now the media player will just shut off. I reinstalled the media player, updated drivers, etc. Avast has to be the culprit. What can I do?
Follow these steps:
a) Do a repair of avast via add/remove. Once repaired has completed, manually restart your computer.
b) If option (a) isn’t successful. Do a clean uninstallation of avast. First uninstall avast via add/remove and follow the instructions. Download the avast uninstall utility and run it. It will ask you that this tool will run your computer in safe mode automatically, click on yes. Once in safe mode, the tool will re-appear and follow the instructions.
c) Download and install a fresh copy of avast. Once installed, it will do a quick start up scan. Once finished, restart your computer manually. After restart register your copy of avast.
