Avast is slowing down my uTorrent download

Hi,

I have installed Avast Free antivirus version 7.0.1407 (the lastest on 24-Feb-'12) and it is drastically slowing down my uTorrent download speed from ~130 KBps to ~5-10KBps.

Please help! :frowning:

There are very known issues of uTorrent and avast since a long time.
It “opens” and “closes” the file each time and avast scans the “new” file.
Due to this, it’s unchecked by default among the P2P programs.
You can set ashQuick.exe to scan the file once the download finish.

“You can set ashQuick.exe to scan the file once the download finish.”

How do I do that? My uTorrent is not uploading at all!

Thanks.

I can use it ::slight_smile:

But, avast P2P is unchecked AND Windows Firewall has exceptions for uTorrent.

Well, avast works also with uTorrent selected.

Thank you. I have set it up now.

But upload is still not working properly. I tried to go through the steps in the set up of utorrent and when I try to do the test for bandwidth it says Data send error: A local networking problem closed the connection (10053).

I don’t get it - downloading works and internet is fine. Can you help?

Which is your firewall?
I’m definitively not an expert on uTorrent. Did you change the default settings?

You will have to excuse me, but I am not very good with computers. How do I check firewall? I probably did change the settings on utorrent. I will reset them to default.
