Avast is stopping me from using Outlook and Thunderbird...

Hi everyone,

I noticed when I installed Avast 7 Pro, some popup box displayed saying something that Avast wouldn’t allow SSL or HTTPS encrypted conenctions. All of my email accounts are run through Hotmail, Gmail, or Google Apps.

Now, whenever I try to send an email, I get a connection timed out. I have to close the program and then reopen it.

What do I need to change so that my email works again?

Thanks. >:(

Charyb-

Thanks for the info… that looks a bit complicated, but it does look like the correct answer.

Instead, I’m going uncheck the checkbox for

mail shield => Settings “scan outbound messages”

Why does Avast want you to run things through their SSL vs. through the actual mail system? Is that so they can scan it?

Avast creates own SSL/TLS,IMAP protection for email, thats way you have to disable SSL/TLS.IMAP protection in email client. I,m quite your email shield and spam shield didn,t record/shows anything when you sent an email or when you recive email, right? That,s way you have to disable SSL/TLS,IMAP in email client to active Mail shield and Spam shield (Avast PRO,AIS)
