Avast is useless!!!!

Almost every day, I receive one of these : https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/0ef1f0d16a66f84aa7adb2519cd8f1ca8b099f60d909596af01033d56a693f49/analysis/1505322682/
viruses by email and avast doesn’t detect ANYTHING. I’ve been receiving these for weeks and avast lets them all through.

etc. I got a ton of these…

On the other hand, god forbid I try to install a legitimate program, then all hell breaks loose with all kinds of warnings and pop-ups, ALL FALSE POSITIVES. I clicked “add an exception” for one of them, and didn’t have ANY EFFECT, the window kept popping over and over again (until i went into the GUI and un-checked that damn “use reputation services” (which btw, i had disabled, but it re-enabled itself)
Examples:
nfopad 1.73 and Notepad3 (just off the top of my head,there are DOZENS more). Perfectly clean programs blocked by avast, because of some bogus “evo-gen” or “filerep: malware” detection.
SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!

First one to blame is your mail provider.
They should already have blocked those mails.

It would help if you mention what exact version of avast and what the settings are.

Hi!

Avast Premium has brought my entire office to its knees over the past 2 weeks!!! It’s already cost me THOUSANDS of ZAR Rands!

Can’t print anything.
For some reason, print jobs only print when I restart Windows 7 Pro.
Keeps throwing me off of my external connected via WiFi network.
Keep getting thrown off of my wifi network.

Every function I need to carry out business admin is blocked! WTF?

I’ve looked at articles on the forum about Firewall but it seems to me that you need to have a Doctorate in Computer Engineering to understand it.

Posting in what is an extremely old topic won’t really help much will have changed in over two and a half years.

You would have been better to have created your own new topic and given more detailed information.

You don’t even say what Avast Program and version/build number you are running ?

I have no idea what topics about the avast firewall (or even if you have an avast program with the avast firewall) you have read. But one of the easiest checks you could have made was to ensure the avast firewall mode was set to private.

Most likely, changing your Firewall setting to Private would have solved you problem.
Since you really weren’t interested, I hope you find what you’re looking for.
