I type in the site, hit OK and try to go there and behold total access. The components I have installed are File System, Web Shield, P2P and network shield. Why isn’t this working?
If it is not https, it should work. Mine is working perfectly.
Its not HTTPS.
Go to Avast! > Tools > Site Blocking > Enable site blocking. Copy/Paste
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
ADD. Close Avast! and now try to go to the same address. Copy/Paste de URL into the address bar of your browser.
Can still go there.
Hmm… I do not know if the lack of Script Shield has anything to do with it though.
Repair Avast!
With XP
Start > Control panel > Add & Remove programs > select Avast! and click " Change/Remove ". Look for " Repair " and click it.
With Vista, win7, and W8 ?
Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > uninstall a program > select Avast! and click " Uninstall/Change ". Look for " Repair "
Reboot when finished.
@ cheater87
Watching this one and the blocking for the link given by iroc works on my system.
Do you happen to be using any browser add-on to force https connections.
I looked at my extensions and can’t find any. I will check again, script got added back to Avast and it still isn’t blocking self blocked sites.
Did you repair ? Still the same ?
Repaired and still the same.
Unless you want to do a clean reinstall and try again, I am at lost. I do not use nonscript and AdBlock but i know DavdR does or at least one of them. I use WOT and Comodo and still davidR and myself do not have problems.
So unless you want to do a clean reinstall of Avast! and I am without ideas.
OK I’ll do a clean install and report back.
Ok. Try and follow this procedure to ensure a clean install:
Install from scratch:
1.) Very important to remove all remains of other AVs installed before Avast. Use this site to execute uninstall utilities for other AVs.
http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/
2.) Download and save to your desktop aswclear.exe
3.) Download and save a fresh copy of Avast!. Be sure to have your lincense handy if running a paid version.
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
4.) Open Avast! > Settings > Troubleshooting > Untick " Enable Avast! self-defense module ".
5.) Uninstall Avast! normally through Control Panel > Programs & feature ( Vista, W7 ) or Add and remove programs ( XP ). Reboot. If you can not complete this step, continue with step # 6
6.) Even if you were able to uninstall Avast! in step # 5, it is important to run aswclear.exe in safe mode for any Avast! you may have had before and then for v. 8. Reboot into normal mode after uninstall.
NOTE: aswclear has the ability to make your system go into Safe Mode. Just run it in normal mode and follow instructions.
7.) Reinstall fresh copy of Avast! and reboot.
Be aware. Avast! will offer Chrome during installment. Remember to opt-out if you do not want it.
I ran Revo Unintaller and got rid of all left overs, re intalled it, put in a site, still could go. Oh well as long as web site blocking from malicious sites still works I’m OK.
Only use Revo if you know how it works. None of the veterans here recommend it. You still can use RejZor toll if running Vista, W7, and W8.
I can not tell you what else to do run out of ideas. You still have Comodo to block any web site. If you want to know if Web Shield works just take a look at the count. also you can test it with:
Webshield still works Tested.
Ok it just started working at random now. Don’t know why it didn’t before but it is working now.
