I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I did a system restore after after accidentally uninstalling some sound hardware, when it finally comes back up avast says that it’s been stopped, or is an inconsistent state. When I press fix now or start program, VisthAux.exe runs and then disappears shortly after without doing anything. I tried to start the program up via services under admin tools and I get this message “The avast! Antivirus service on Local Computer started and then stopped.” and then some bit about how some services turn themselves off when they have no work to do. I don’t really know what else to try. Can somebody help me?
I should add that the firewall service is running, but the shields aren’t.
Additionally, I try to run a quick scan, and it says “Unable to start scan. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper”
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
Well I can’t tell if it worked, I did everything Yogi suggested, but now I’ve encountered a NEW problem. I supplied a license file but it’s telling me its unable to insert it. I’m supposed to be subscribed until late next January. What the heck is wrong with it now?
That didn’t help at all. Isn’t there anything I can do to help figure out what the problem is? I suppose if it helps, the license file I supplied was back when it was ais 5, however I don’t think it’s relevant. The file says it’s valid till 1/23/2012.
I don’t understand. What will they be able to do? The file worked before and its not working now. I should add that when I reinstalled it, it installed itself as AIS 5, and isn’t updating because of the license file, I mean it should freaking work but it isn’t. I mean it was working fine a few hours ago and then a system restore seems to have broken it? And reinstalling it doesn’t seem to help because now the license file that was WORKING till recent also decides to not work?? Yeah I’ll contact sales and see if I can’t get an activation code, or a new license file, but if I don’t figure out what caused the problem, isn’t it likely I’ll just end up having to do this all over again? Isn’t there something I can do to find out and prevent that?
I don’t exactly know how to show only the last 400-500 lines, that is a lot of lines to count… is there a shortcut? Also, I did re-download the license file from my email and tried to insert it, same error message.
Sorry, I misread, thought it was a copy/paste thing… anyway. I am attaching a cropped down file that should fit. I took enough off the top so that it could fit. Let me know what you find.

my computer is a windows xp 64-bit. And when i put the license file it asks me if i want to put the file in with those specific “parameters” and it says its supposed to expire next year, not NOW of all times. So I don’t understand what you’re getting at. I mean, my dad purchased this product for me, and I don’t exactly see an option that will let me re-download 6.0 without spending money. I still have about 2 months left on my subscription, is there a link to download AIS 6 and use the license key I have so I can get my antivirus software working again?
And I apologize for how slow I am when it comes to this stuff. I appreciate your patience.
Well… I never saw this problem.
Click Start – Run, type “winver” and press enter.
This should show the “About Windows” with Windows Version and Build. Post it here (save and attach the picture - PrintScreen).
