Avast just randomly opened a window up and asked me to restart.

I’m on windows 7 64 bit and suddenly I see a blinking orange icon for Avast on my taskbar, so click it and nothing happens, after a few seconds it goes away, so I open up avast and it says I need a restart.

So naturally I restart my computer and strangely enough the version isn’t updated still saying it’s 17.3.2291. Did the build number increase? I didn’t check that before, was something released recently or sometime within the last few days? It still says my last major update was 3/30.

Mine did that yesterday, requiring two starts before the “needs a restart” message would go away. The version and build number didn’t change but the restart message has gone away now.

An emergency update has been released, nothing to worry about.

Sure there is, I would like to know what it is supposed to be fixing and came here specifically to find out why only to so far see no info regarding it.

Also considering I have my update set to alert me to know when there is an update but dont do anything it must be a pretty big reason to go out of its way to go against the settings I have set.

Ok and what about the rest of the free users that have no firewall? If it has nothing to do with the free version then why are we also getting an update?

Of course only avast can tell, but my guess is that the micro update wasn’t just to fix the port scan issue in the firewall but also fixed some other minor(?) things.
