Avast just removed all my bookmarks and history

So avast just ran a browser cleanup, to my knowledge for the first time, since I’ve never seen or used that function. I gave me a notice about a bad reputation add-on about a spigot search bar or somesuch, that I’ve never even heard of and asked wheter it should be removed. I clicked ok, and then the program proceeded to remove all my firefox bookmarks and history. That was literally hundreds of bookmarks, some of them fairly important related to my thesis that I had. It’s like avast had re-installed the whole program. I even tried running a system restore to this morning, which apparently brought back the spigot thingy but not my bookmarks.

There’s a folder in your Firefox profile with 5 bookmark backups. As for History, I would ask on the mozillazine.org forums. When you’re up and running again, back up your entire Firefox profile.

Yes, if you just right click on the Bookmarks tab and then click on the Show All Bookmarks option then right click the Backup and Restore tab and simply hover the cursor over the Restore option a drop down list of as many as 12 saved dated bookmark restore points should be presented.

The last time you added a bookmark should be the first bookmark restore point date.
