avast & kaspersky

Hi has somebody given a try to the new kaspersky v5?
is fast?
like avast??
and the resident shield of kaspersky, can somebody tell me about it?

From what I know, you can not use the words “fast” and “Kaspersky” in the same sentence ;D

Some info: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=56857

Yes I can. I got a computer at home for the month of december that belongs to my employer, so I could work at home. It was a new Siemens and Kaspersky was put on it the day I got it.
A few things about it: It is almost impossible to configure KAV, because they had a lot of comments on the 4.5 version being too difficult for home-users to configure. Although the default settings are ok for most users, some of us ;D might want to change things like we’re used to do in Avast! and this is simply not possible in KAV.
The program has a very good reputation in the prevention of virus-infections, but to achieve this, every file and every archive is being scanned before acces or arrival (e.g. email or webpage). This slows down the process so KAV is really making things take a while. And, since a lot of files I had to work with were provided on a 3.5 inch floppy diskette, I had massive problems with KAV running and trying to open a floppy. Took ages and often didn’t want to open. All the floppies were brandnew and were filled by a company with a good reputation so I switched KAV off when opening a floppy, which “solved” the problem, but isn’t what an antivirusprogram is intended for.
Definitionsupdates were every 8 hours, very frequent .
I must say the program gave a solid feeling of being well protected, but I’m glad that on my own computer I use Avast!.

Hi
I’ve bought KAV 3 years ago and was happy with. Since V5 no more. The V5 is slow and was slowing a lot my system. Although my KAV-licence is valid up to 2006, I changed to Avast! Pro and I’m happy now.
Sincerely
