Avast keep deactivating itself

For some time now, Avast deactivate itself regularly and I have to reactivate it.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

It’s still doing it. However, it happens less often then before.

Hi garoc

Was there another antivirus on your system, before you installed Avast ?
And have you removed is properly https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#

No. Avast was the first and only antivirus I installed, when I bought my computer. And the problem appeared out of nowhere. I had Avast for quite a time before and I didn’t install any new security program when it happened.

Perform a clean installation of avast and see if it solves the problem.

Same issue I have. I have freshly installed Avast on a new laptop with no other security software. When the problem first happened I tried the resetting Avast via the built in option, I then tried the repair and finally the complete uninstall (using the Avast uninstall program itself) and a reinstall. I wonder if it is something in the background that Windows 10 runs that turns off Avast?

What operating system ???

It’s me again.

Doing a clean install worked for a time, but now avast is deactivating itself again.

I’ve asked for avast! self diagnostics feature that could potentially solve such problems and never got any comment on it from avast! team. They could so easily track telemetry and spot mass problems early with it as well as ensure clients actually operate and aren’t in state like for this user. Hm.

It’s certainly not a mass problem, else we would see more requests like this.

Yeah, because most users just uninstall it and use something else…

Erm, any proof of that…!?

It’s what I’d do if I wasn’t a decade plus long loyal avast! user… Large majority of users can’t be bothered reporting and fixing it.

Sorry, but that doesn’t proof anything…
Agreed, there were some issues after certain W10 updates, that have been fixed shortly afterwards.
Anyway, let’s see what the devs find out after the OP submitted it to Avast.

There is an issue with Avast and many other AV’s and the current Windows 10 preview build.
