avast! keeps asking me to reboot after Manuel program update

Im just afraid of this program update button now, waisted my time on five restarts then I realized its downloading nothing
does anybody have this problem too?

Windows 8 RTM 64 bit - avast IS 7.0.1466

Well this hasn’t downloaded nothing as your version is the very latest 7.0.1466, only released a few hours ago. So when you did this program update did you actually reboot (as it was required) ?

Yes I did restart after program update, after that I rechecked and it downloaded like 47 KB ask me to restart again so I did
then it just kept asking me to restart after every check without downloading anything
I actually had this problem in the previous build not beta

That’s strange I had that on one occasion with 7.0.1465 RC build, but I have been doing manual program updates hoping to pick up the new regular release version 7.0.1466. But even though for some reason it isn’t available on my RC build, it hasn’t asked for a reboot as it did once before.

Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

I’ll try and see if it works

Thanx a bunch man I’ll return to tell you if its fixed

You’re welcome, hopefully it will work.

That’s me for the night (well morning) not 4:05am in the UK, time for bed.

Well I did repair it follow steps then restart and didn’t work
so I tried to uninstall it remove everything cleanup registries with avast! cleaner tool fresh install and still didn’t work :frowning:
Thanx

I see you are running Windows 8 RTM 64 bit

As this is still a beta build (not a final OEM release) I would just go back to what worked prior to your problems with Avast with this beta OS.

Have you tried that yet? Use aswclear.exe to completely uninstall all versions of avast.

How did the update work out in Win7, if you have that?

I have tried aswclear.exe utility didnt fix it :-
and no I didnt have this problem in Windows 7 with build 7.0.1456
but not sure about this build although a friend of mine had this problem in windows xp (virtual machine)
Thank you
