Avast keeps creating desktop shortcut

Hello, I am an very old avast user and i have a complaint.
Avast free antivirus is creating a shortcut on my desktop, every time i delete it, the shortcut reapears again. There was no update or sistem restore or anything that could triger “the making of a shortcut” on my desktop. Its frustrating, cause, i dont want an avast shortcut.

Anyway, i have been searching for a solution online and i found several posts on this forum regarding the issue and i cant belive there was no solution on evan a tiny concern about this problem from the avast development (or whatever) staff.

I am very disaponted. Not to mention that avast is still puting a shortcut. If no solution or answer soon i am gona swich to another product

Just because of a shortcut icon ?

Turn off avast self protection and try again…

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

I am using v11.2.2262 since April and this desktop shortcut behaviour has just started. Really annoying.
I updated to v12.1.2272 and quickly reverted back to v11.2.2262. Too many bugs!

What types of bugs do you have in v12.1.2272 ? post screenshots as a evidence.If you think it is a bug then report it here.Avast! DEV will investigate the bugs. :slight_smile:

I occasionally find the avast icon on my desktop. In all cases, I’ve found that its presence is tipping-me-off that something out-of-the-ordinary has happened… for example, the program has been updated to a new version, or protection is fully/partially disabled due to avast’s background service not running, or avast has re-set my customized settings to their defaults.

Indeed, just this morning, I noticed that the icon appeared… and sure enough, all my customized settings had been lost, in favor of their defaults. Fortunately, I know to backup my settings, and so was easily able to restore them. But it’s annoying to have this happen, even if it’s just occasionally.

FWIW, I’m running the current version, v12.1.2272 , and have been happy with it so far.

I’ve also again seen the Avast Desktop Shortcut and to my surprise,
All of my settings are again the default settings.
I may have found the reason and it has to do with a fix made by Avast:

Since I can now save my settings, I don’t mind deleting the shortcut.
It would be nice to have the option not to create it in the first place. :slight_smile:

Apparently, not bugs. New version had lost all exclusions, and, with running in Gaming Mode, I was getting Windows error (something about no access or permissions). Couldn’t even access internet!
