While working with Excel, a recent update (today) of Avast business keeps excel files locked just after opening them and do not release the file locking until I reboot my computer.
All files opened by a network share gets locked, the main issue is with excel files.
My configuration is
Windows XP SP3
Avast Business 17.2.2517 (build 17.2.3419.64)
Other installations on W10 do not have the same problem.
We have reproduced the issue on Windows Server 2003 x86 and Windows XP x86. Micro-update is created and now is being tested. ETA for update is this week.

We have the micro update prepared, but the fix could affect other parts of avast, so more time will be needed for testing. The next consumer beta will contain this fix and couple days after, it will be released as a micro update. Sorry for inconvenience.

Can we get this fix sooner than later. It’s no fun to have to restart samba every few hours once it reaches the limit of open files.
The micro update was released today. Sorry for the delay, the prepared micro update was only fixing part of the issue and some additional changes had to be done.
Micro update will be applied automatically in 12 hour period or you can execute AvastEmUpdate.exe manually located in avast directory. Anyway in both cases a reboot is needed after to take effect.
Anyone update to the latest fix, does it solve the Excel locked/read only problem?
It’s fixed. If you manage to get the micro update installed that is. One out of my 6 installs refuses to update to it for whatever reason (the version number stays at 17.2.3419.0 while the other 5 are at 17.2.3419.64) even after a reinstall :'(. Can’t really figure that one out.
