just installed avast home this morning, and after the reboot it startet to scan my harddrive and memory before windows login.
well, i canceled that by pressing esc like it said, cause i had no time waiting for avast to finish - after another reboot, windows was dead!
when trying to boot, windows stops in a blue screen (wow - haven´t seen that in a long time though) sayin the windows logon process finished unexpectedly.
since I found similar messages in this forums from quite a while ago (with no suggestions what to do) I write this for those who made the same mistake than me, which was downloading avast home in the first place.
I could use the original windows setup CD and repair the windows installation - after everything worked again, i imediatly uninstalled avast.
like it says in my text - sorry i didn´t write down the exact memory address.
the error was: blue screen with the message: “Windows Logon Process ended unexpectedly. The computer is shut down”
rebooting ended at the same screen even after trying all of windows “F8” options available.
And well, I´d be willing to test a product and live with some minor bugs or find solutions (i am developing software myself), but to risk a total system failure is simple not worth it.
Let’s try to solve it next time if you experience a problem.
That’s the only way to solve bugs and make the application better (as you likely know).
In the mean time, take care and enjoy life.
that things happen sometimes and not only with avast.
sometimes it happens after installing something that caused no problems to the other 99% of people.
maybe it wasn’t related to avast, or maybe it was related to avast and a bug of windows itself, or a driver or smthng.
for most people avast works without problems, and the other ones are solved in this forum. the percentage of people whos problems are not solved is very low, so i dont really think installing avast home is a time waste.
