Avast killing my games because of a trojan

Hey all, im not having a go at avast because it does its job but i keep getting attacked in the middle of my madden games by a website trying 2 send me a trojan.

I have deleted everything that looks suspect and some may point out the spyware lurking in my program menu which has now been taken care of. But im still getting attacked by this crappy trojan and i dont have any viruses on my computer.

How do i stop this thing reuining me game and is it possible to turn off avast’s alert pop-up when it detects a virus so it automatically delete’s it but does not bring me back to the desktop 2 warn me.

Thanx

First of all you might want to consider Updating your computer throguh Microsoft Update : http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
Second you might want to check your running processes and make sure
you don’t have you are not suppose to have ;D

Perhaps because avast’s web shield is blocking it from getting on your system.

Your programs menu is unlikely to reveal any trojan they don’t usually advertise their presence.

You only have a limited option in the Web Shield, it is called Silent Mode.
Click on Web Shield and then on Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and select Silent Mode.

See the avast help file, Resident Protection: Web Shield Provider Settings - “Advanced” Page.

Silent mode. If enabled, Web Shield will not require any user interaction. When a virus is detected during a file download, Web Shield will close the connection immediately, instead of showing the usual virus dialog. Of course, the infected file will not be downloaded in that case.

My own feeling on this is you should use the default interactive action. This way you know exactly what is going on with your system. If you are getting so many warnings, that you want to automate this process, I believe you should review your security practice - filter emails at source, delete from server rather than download them, sites they visit, etc.

 Hi Steve :

"Deleted everything that looks suspect" !? Then why do you have Limewire, when there is a safer and "cleaner"
Shareaza from www.shareaza.com available !? And when I looked into Sierra & their games a while back, they
seemed "suspect" to me .
Perhaps the easiest way to avoid that trojan is by going to Internet Options > Security > Restricted sites >
Sites and puting "85(dot)255(dot)113(dot)214" into the "Add this website to the zone" block, then clicking "OK" !?

And you could increase your computer's security by adding "Ewido" from www.ewido.net/en and "SpywareBlaster"
from www.javacoolsoftware.com ; both are good and FREE .

Tried the silent mode and it still pop’d up to show me. What i meant is u will notice up the top of the programs list is spyware links for some ass**** security guard toolbar. Got spyware blaster and actually read another post similar on this.

So i thought logically and im not sure wether this actually got rid of it but i havn’t had a problem since. I created a new account and copied my documents and favourites across and deleted my other account on this computer.

Honestly i havnt had a problem since but please tell me if their could be still a problem that will come back to haunt me.

Now all i need to know is how to get a ntsc us disc to run on a pal system so i can use my network adapter for ps2 and swap magic isnt working!!! lol.

Cheers

But did you run a boot time scanning with avast?
Did you run www.ewido.net suggested by Spiritsongs?

If they are still popping up then they aren’t anything to do with the web shield provider, if it happens again, take a screenshot of it and perhaps we will recognise what it is.

Sorry I don’t notice/see what you are getting at in the programs list, what is it ?
If it is in the list I assume that you have tried and failed to uninstall it using the add remove programs and you have done a google search (or other search) on how to remove said program ?

What was the other thread and what advice did it give ?

Simply installing SpywareBlaster may not resolve your problem, as when we suggest spywareblaster we also state not to install it until your system is clean.
