Avast kills internet again

This happens from time to time and is highly annoying.

Just booted my machine, couldn’t access any websites, didn’t matter if I used Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer. Couldn’t even access my routers webpage.

Killed web shield, nothing.
Killed all shields, nothing.
Avast UI became unresponsive…
Killed both avast services and finally I got my Internet back.

Using Internet Security with Avast firewall.

Rebooted and problem doesn’t appear again.

My guess is that Avast updates to a new virus def, applies it and then have problems loading the new rules.

ive been having a very similar issue for a looong time now. If you find a fix please let me know :confused:

Try removing the firewall. Fixed a lot of issues for me. It seems a lot of the problems on the forums are posted by AV IS users, not AV free. I also see a lot of people who upgraded from AV free → AV IS that suddenly have problems. The main difference between this two? The firewall.

Yeah sadly that is the best solution right now, as the firewall is very buggy and has been since v2014. Tobad Avast doesn’t want to admit it and a solution doesn’t seem to be anywhere near.
