AVAST last update kill my two notebooks running Windows XP

Hello Sir: This is detailed report for a serious problem about AVAST running on notebooks WINDOWS XP

I have three machines all running WINDOWS XP and AVAST antivirus from some 9 years with no reported problems . One is desktop machine which presents no problem at all, and the other two are Notebooks ACER Travel mate and ACER Aspire one.

Since last AVAST updates (I can´t figure from what update this problem appeared) , both notebooks became unusable cause some 10 or 15 minutes after booting computers, they simply freeze all processes they are working on (even restart button), and I am obliged to unplug batteries to restart them again. When they freeze, they continue to show screen and mouse arrow also moves ok, but no windows buttons work at all, machine is died at all. To let you some idea, when I run intelligent scanning, Travel Mate reachs 78% and machine die, spinning wheel stops and nothing works any more.

I suspected the problem was AVAST software because the two notebooks presented exactly the same behavior, and I supposed AVAST save screen could produce the fail, so I deactivated all screen saving facilities, but… the problem continued same way.

So I uninstalled AVAST from both machines and noticed this way all problems vanished, both notebooks run again many days without any problem, like the old fashioned days.

I installed again AVAST on notebooks and immediately the problem appeared exactly the same way, after some minutes the machines become completely frost.

Before changing anti-virus software for my notebooks, I hope there would be some solution for this problem, but I don´t know any clue. Maybe deactivating some feature on AVAST the notes would work fine again, but what features?

thanks for any answer to this problem

Miguel from Brazil

I discovered this AVAST for WIN XP , I installed it but the problem continues exactly the same. It only solves when I uninstall Avast.

Hello!

I’m really sorry about your troubles, but let me say this: AVAST never killed any of my systems!
