AVAST Licensing

Recently we purchased 16 licenses for Standard Suite of AVAST. Initially, we deployed 12 licenses of the original 16. Now we are looking to replace 7 of the original 12 machines with new machines. How can I “harvest” the licenses within ADNM to allow for adequate licensing within the original 16 licenses?

The best way is cleanout the legacy machines from AD and also in the computer catalogue. Then do a discovery.

All the licenses will be freed up as you would have removed all the old ones. Make sure you uninstall avast on them also before the rediscovery on old machines.

I’m facing a similar problem where I have more licenses than machines, but because I formatted drives and reloaded PCs, the ADNM thinks I’m out of licenses I guess. I did NOT uninstall Avast Managed prior to formatting. I have deleted the machines from the Computer Catalog in the ADNM, but I don’t know what you mean by clean-out from the AD. Could you please describe?

Thanks in advance!

Please help!!!

Thanks!

ADNM pulls its list via the discovery task, it assigns the licenses to the number of machines its pulled in.

So if you have old machines or a mismanaged AD that isn’t kept up to date then those machines will take up valuable licenses.

You may see machines with a key icon on them instead of the green button. this means the license is exceeded.

You can cleanup the computer catalgue deleting machines you know don’t exist anymore, or for house keeping purposes do it in AD also to avoid the problem.

I hope that answers the question if not let me know.

cheers

Can you shed some light on my problem?

I have 40+ licenses, and only 30 computers in the catalog but ADNM still shows keys on some of the computers?

Got it figured out. Avast! only sent me a license file for 20 seats, despite the fact i bought 40.
