Avast loads but can't open and detects Malwarebytes as Incompatible

Avast loads at startup but can’t I can’t open Avast and went into the add remove programs to repair it and get a message that detects Malwarebytes as Incompatible. I even tried the Update method and all that results is the incompatible message. Also, there is no shortcut menu when right clicked

I have ran Avast and Malwarebytes together for years and never had a problem.

What do I need to do to remedy Avast not being able to open and remove this incompatible message?

Yeah I thought of doing that but am unable because Avast will not open. It is in my taskbar next to the clock but right clicking does nothing, went to the main program in program files and tried to run as Admin, nothing.

Haven’t went into Services yet to check what’s going on there…

According to the info via my.avast.com the program says Avast 2022 (don’t know if that’s premium or not. I am paying for Premium), version is 17.6.2310, virus defs 170916-0, my OS is Windows 10 64bit

The only other things I have is Malwarebytes and CCleaner. Both of which work and I have been using everything together for years with no issues until now.

  1. Download Avast Premier Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

That seems to have taken care of the problem. I will let you know if anything happens to Avast if it stops working again in the next couple days.
