AVAST LOG Delete All? & VRBD what to set it too?

I have several questions?

  1. On my Avast Log…do I delete all the N 4 gathered on NOTICES, WARNINGS & ERRORS, OR DO I LEAVE THAT N 4
    THERE. I DON’T KNOW.

  2. DO I KEEP VRDB ON, OR DO I PUT IT ON SCREEN SAVER. IS IT SUPPOSE 2B ON CONSTANT? WILL IT KEEP ME MORE
    SAFE ON INFECTED FILES. MY LAPTOP GOT INFECTED A WEEK AGO FROM A ‘FAKE WEBSITE’ CLAIMING 2B A VISTA ANTI-
    VIRUS AND TOOK CONTROL OF MY WHOLE PC. I COULD NOT EVEN GET A WEBPAGE N. I HAD TO DO A RESTORE AFTR 2 DAYS
    OF NOTHING WORKING. …I NEED 2 KNOW…IS THAT VIRUS STILL ON MY PC EVEN THO I WENT BACK 2 A LATER
    RESTORE DATE. WHERE DID IT GO?

I’VE RAN THE AVAST AND WINDOWS ESSENTIALS SECUIRTY; A FAST SCAN AND A THRORUGH SCAN. AM I SAFE NOW?

I NOW PUT THE VRBD ON…IS THIS A GOOD MOVE?

From what I can understand from your post, you have two antivirus software on your machine…Avast and MSE. Having more than one antivirus on your machine can cause conflicts and false positives and many other problems. So you need to decide which antivirus you want to keep and uninstall the other.

MSE Uninstaller Tool: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435760/, then reboot.

Avast Uninstaller Tool: http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe, then reboot.

Hopefully you keep Avast. After you uninstall MSE and reboot your machine, if you have problems with Avast (since you had 2 antivirus programs running in your machine), you may need to do an Avast Repair:

  • Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
  • Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
  • Reboot.

If everything is working properly, then make sure the Avast definitions are up to date and run another Avast Quick scan to see if you have an infection (malware). If anything comes up, put the infection in the Virus Chest, then do a Boot scan.

Report back here with your findings on the scan results and if possible give a screen shot if anything is in the Virus Chest. If you are unable to give a screen shot, then type in the malware name, file name and location. Thank you.

Tweaking any new program, which includes avast!, should only be done
once you are familiar with that program.
avast! does an excellent job of protecting your system if you simply leave the
the default settings as they are.
