Hi, I have just started to use Avast Antivirus 2015.
My problem is what if I want to check a history of my scans - Yes I found the scan history.
Now what if I want to check the history of detected items during real-time. Some were repaired, others moved to chest, some ignored. But is there a way to check this history? (or maybe a log?)
They should be in the Report folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report XP location.
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report Vista and later OSes.
As an avast user I simply can’t answer that - though I would guess that the numbers looking for long detailed reports on real-time detections isn’t great. The actual information in the text logs isn’t that great either and you have to trawl through masses of entries reporting start and stop data to find any actual alerts.
At the time of a real-time detection, you have the avast popup that can be recalled using the right click on the avast tray icon ‘Show last popup message.’ This you can recall provided you haven’t had another popup and or you haven’t rebooted.
Personally I think looking over historic data like this doesn’t help much after the fact.
I am a computer tech and I left on a service call while avast was running a scan on an infected computer. I would like to see in the log what it found. I know when I left it had found 37 infected files and was only 22% through. This morning it is done and the only thing in the logs are the start times for when avast was run.
If you select the scan again but don’t run it you will see Scan History (Blue text) at the bottom of the page - click that and it will return the scans done - select the one you are interested in and click the detailed report.
Otherwise the on-demand files are in the same location and have the same file name as your Scan that you ran, ‘Full system scan.txt’, ‘Quick scan’, etc. etc.
This however, relies on you having enabling the Generate Report file in the scan settings.
