Avast Mail Scanner Service locks down connect to POP3 Server after signature upd

Hello,

since the last signature Update of my avast Professional Edition (yesterday in the afternoon) I can’t connect to my pop3 service, when avast is active.

Is there a fresh non-buggy update available. I get many mails and need them.

I think that virus database update cannot cause such issue. The problem could be somewhere else, what is the exact error message ?

Traffic works as follows:

Thu, 10.02.2005 12:34:55 : Server: mail.xxx.yyy.de
Thu, 10.02.2005 12:34:55 : Protocol: +OK avast! POP3 proxy ready.
Thu, 10.02.2005 12:35:18 : Server “mail.skydsl.de” trennt die Verbindung, Operation abgebrochen.

This means thatv the connection is cancelled. If I deactivate avast! Everything works fine but I get many virusses!

Te problem is not provider specific. I have two providers and the same problem.

Last Message: avast POP3 Scanning was deactivated.

The log file lacks the important details. You need to insert the line
Log=20
to file avast4.ini under [MailScanner] before testing to enable detailed logging.

I tried to check mail with advanced loglevel (see attached file)

You need to set the mail scanner to ignore the colliding program: add this line to file avast4.ini under [MailScanner]:
IgnoreProcess=craxy.exe
