Avast Mail Shield with Opera Mail

Hello
Since the update to 8.0.1483 there is a problem with Opera mail with SSL. Each time Opera tries to get new mails I get the error message: Security Issue
The server’s certificate chain is incomplete and the signers are not registered. (Issuer: avast Mail Scanner Root)
I can approve or reject that issue, I do not get new mails.
(I have to unmark in avast “Security > Mail shield Setttings > SSL Scanning > Scan SSL connections” to get my mails)

Any help?
System running Win XP prof.

Is this a bug?

On another system with Avast Free AV 7.0.1474 there are no problems…

Maybe someone can tell me why avast says:

“Issuer: avast Mail Scanner Root”

Why is there not the original issuer noted? (I think that would solve the problem)

(Should I post that in a different forum? No answers…)

hey im no expert but it sounds like a conflict between opera mail and avast mail shield.

but you said you unchecked the ssl in avast and then you got the opera mail to work?

if you leave like this it should be ok?

are you using the latest opera version?

It looks like Avast fakes certificates by modifying “issued by” field. Try to do the following:

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type “certmgr.msc” and press Enter
  3. Look for “avast! MailScanner root”
  4. Export it.
  5. Launch Opera
  6. Open Preferences | Advanced | Security | Manage certificates
  7. Import avast’s certificate, you’ve exported before.

thanks for the answers.

yes, it is the latest opera version and if i uncheck ssl it’s working - except i have no scanning of my mails of course.

i can accept that certificate but how do i know if it’s ok? i just dont get it why avast changes the issuer.
