avast mal/adware alerts - and how to stop them?...

hi guys,

i would appreciate your help with a problem i’m having. i run avast antivirus on my home PC. i just recently must have surfed a particularly nasty web page or something because every 10 minutes or so i get a avast warning message telling me it’s found adware/malware.

it says “no reason to worry, it has been stopped before it enters the PC”

it then gives the option to abort connection.

it then detects a trojan horse and asks me to abort connection.

i get about 5 of these messages in a row, then the cycle repeats itself every 10 minutes.

any ideas how to stop this, or has anyone had the same problem?? i’ve downloaded spybot and noadware (which was bloody useless, i might add) and neither has resolved it.

much appreciated,
umair

hi and welcome ,
can you have a read through this link and see if your problem is similar

good luck

This is the Web Shield in action, filtering web content, if it finds something it will alert you and give the option to abort the connection, downloading the infected content so it doesn’t get on your HDD (much harder to remove when it becomes established).

Stop visiting the site that originates the avast Web Shield warnings.

Noadware doesn’t get rave reviews and was previously listed (now delisted) as a rogue spyware program, the choice is your if you should keep it:

hi

thanks for the tips guys. yeah thankfully the problem seems to have been resolved - i found a similar thread on this forum and the recommended programme was dr. web. i downloaded that and it seems to have done the trick, thank god.

actually noadware came up high in a google search which is why i thought i’d give it a go. i’ve never downloaded an adware programme before. but it was, as you mention, absolute rubbish. made my system freeze up and everything.

keep zappin’ them viruses!

cheerio

Glad we could help, welcome to the forums.
