avast might be out of date

I bought a 4.8 avast professional version a month ago. Untill Saturday, 4th April 2009 it was updating the data base correctly. On switching on my PC on Monday 7th April 2009, a message appeared that my avast 4.8.1335 [vps 090331-0] might be out of date

I already have the registration key but when I enter the key, I get the ‘invalid license key message.’
Kindly help.

Well the out of date message is correct as the latest version of the avast VPS is 090407-0, so your reported VPS version 090331-1 is over 7 days old and the Windows Security Center is correct to alert.

What has to be ascertained is if that reported VPS version number is correct. If you right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select about avast! and confirm what is on there ?

If that is 090331-0 then do a manual VPS update, right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select Updating, iAVS Update and report how it goes, e.g. if successful, if not it could be your firewall blocking the avast update process, avast.setup.
