Avast miss BuyNSave

How come Avast free Antivirus doesn´t recognize BuyNSave?

After years of using the free Avast I just upgraded to a payed version but the question is if I made a mistake. Maybe the upgraded version is just as lousy in block and remove annoying ad-programs such as BuyNSave!

Yesterday I made a big mistake and downloaded an *.exe file from a trusted link. The software was said to convert and download filmclips from Youtube so you could save them down to a folder on the computer. Well, it wasn´t safe and the software were infected with BuyNSave and a Trojan! The trojan seems to be fixed by Avast so there I have to salute them but… about the BuyNSave I cry rivers of grief!

Anyone knows a safe and effective way to remove BuyNSave since Avast isn´t capable of doing this?

Who in Gods name will even think of buying something from such a totally tasteless irritating and ugly place like BuyNSave?

No security program have 100% detection

Have you turned on PUP (possible unwanted program) detection in all shields/scan types

If no succes try Malwarebytes
You find it here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

You may also clear your browsers with AdwCleaner. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

I have the same problem and have tried to fix it with multiple other programs, including malwarebytes and AdwCleaner. The malware seems to be gone from my computer but everytime I restart my computer, the Buynsave extension is back in the list of chrome-extensions.

Any suggestions?

Scroll down to Farbar Recovery Scan Tool … run as instructed and attach the two diagnostic logs

Sorry, didn’t notice your reply. Thanks for the PM. So I did the Farbar scan. Here are the logs:

Essexboy is notified, may take some time before he is online

These adware programmes change daily to evade AV programmes

What this one has done is attached itself to Chrome so every time Chrome starts the URL is brought up

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

THEN

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

The Fixlog

The AdwCleaner didn’t give any results in the scan so the log is empty. I’ve already run AdwCleaner yesterday, which did give results, so I’ve added the logs from that too, in case you were interested.

Ha Joost5,

polonus

That would explain why I did not see much

How is the computer behaving now ?

My computer seems fine, except that whenever I restart it and then start Chrome, I get a notification about extensions running in the developer mode. Then when I check the list of extensions, the BuyNSave extension has installed itself into chrome again even though I deleted it before I restarted my computer.

So I don’t get any malware notifications from Avast anymore, it’s just this extension that reinstalls itself which makes me think that the malware hasn’t been completely removed from my computer.

Thanks for all the help, guys!

Ha Joost5,

Uninstall Chrome and then re-install exporting only bookmarks and passwords. I did not see that alert on the FRST scan

Developer mode has all security disabled and so is a ticking time bomb

Okay now that did the trick. BuyNSave is gone from my list of extensions. I had reinstalled it before but didn’t tick the box for deleting all browser history.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Joost5 & Essexboy,

We’re glad that it finally has left the Google browser and no longer affects that computer.
Essexboy is a great expert and again has succeeded in making someone happy I assume.
