Avast Missing Component Key Issue

Hi. This is my first time posting on this forum, but I’ve been using Avast for years now. I’ve only recently encountered issues with it, and haven’t been able to figure out any solution for it. The only solutions I’ve been able to determine, which are at most temporary, involve uninstalling Avast and reinstalling it. I’ve repaired the software several times which is only a temporary solution, it seems. I’ll list the problems with Avast below:

The version of Avast that’s currently installed is the 17.6 version.

If anyone can help me figure this out, I’d appreciate it. I’ll receive between 11 and 29 of these different errors. I’m not sure what’s causing them, but I do want to resolve the issue.

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

I meant to include it earlier. I’m sorry about that. The version is the Avast Free: Home Edition, 64 Bit. O/S: Windows 10 Home. The only other security software installed would be the default Windows Firewall, and Windows Defender.

Prior to Avast, I didn’t use any other anti-viral program. I’ve only used Avast on this computer.

Please also answer the other questions.

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Thanks. That seemed to help, but I’ll keep you updated if it changes. I do appreciate it.

You’re welcome.

Well, that didn’t last long. It reported the same error. I’m still appreciative of your help, but this is getting to the point where the only option left is to cease using Avast. I can’t think of anything else to do.

Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB33#artTitle

I think I’ll have to uninstall Avast and not use it. Thanks for the help. I only wish that Avast wouldn’t have encountered such errors until recently. It was a great program.

Well, that’s up to you…

It’s not something I want to do, but I’ve spent months trying to resolve the issues and I spent all night trying to resolve them recently without any change in results. Thanks for the help. I do appreciate it.

You’re welcome. Cheers

Thank you. I might look into trying Avast in the future. It is a good program. It’s much better than Norton, and no, I never used Norton. A friend of mine uses Norton, and it’s rubbish. I used it once, on an older computer and it didn’t pick up a virus that Avast did. I used Avast since.

What other security related programs are installed on your system ???

The only other security related programs on my system, aside from AVG which I had to get rid of. I ran into the same problems would be Windows Defender and the Default Windows Firewall.

How did you remove AVG ??? If you didn’t use their removal tool, AVG is most likely causing your current problem.
Follow all of the instructions outlined here https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-uninstall-AVG

I’d installed AVG after I’d uninstalled Avast, but I’m not an AVG fan after trying it once. I used the AVG Removal Tool, and then reinstalled Avast. After having reinstalled Avast last night, I’ve checked and haven’t discovered that I’ve had any errors listed from it yet.

Keep the fingers crossed and us informed please.

Happy to hear that it solved your problem.
