lately when i scan my computer (it scans every night) I get “some files could not be…”
because some avast files (mainly *.dll) files are missing.
sometimes files are missing from the update folder but now it’s from the “defs” folder.
lately when i scan my computer (it scans every night
why every night.....
you have a antivirus with realtime protection, meaning any file that moves when the computer is on is checked
files that can not be scanned (for whatever reason avast give) are just that, it does not mean they are infected
avast just give you a scan error report. files not found error is usually gone if you reboot and scan again
files that could not be scanned, is the most frequently asked question in the forum so lots of info if you search
You are bumping into the avast housekeeping, removing old virus definitions folders and old streaming updates to keep the hard disk size in control.
The more frequently you run scans the more likely you are to notice this.
With a resident on-access antivirus like avast, the need for frequent on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part the on-demand scan is going to be scanning files that would be otherwise be dormant or inert. If they were active files then the on-access file system shield would be scanning them before being created, modified, opened or executed.
I have avast set to do a scheduled weekly Quick scan, set at a time and day that I know the computer will be on. If for some reason my system wasn’t on, no big deal I will catch up on the next scheduled scan.
