For some reason my Avast Mobile Security will not update unless I’m on Wi-Fi. It should not have a problem updating over mobile data. It’s been doing this through several versions. Screenshot is attached.
in your picture where it say Update over Wi-Fi only to the right is a button, what happens if you move/turn on that button?
Does the same thing actually. Which I would sort of expect, since that is telling it to only update over Wi-Fi.
What version of AMS do you have? I checked it in latest version on 4G and it seems to work well.
I just checked it on my device and it’s working for me as well. I assume your connection is working and AMS is not blocked by any other app? What’s your device and android version? Do you use any custom rom?
According to the About screen, AMS version is 5.0.17-8975-e7cfadb.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Android 5.0.1. No custom ROM’s or anything. Just what came on the last update. I’ve rooted phones before but this one was expensive and I’ve been too chicken to try it for fear of breaking it. (I messed up my last S3 pretty bad doing that.)
On the AT&T network. I have good 4G coverage.
I have not installed any security app other than AMS and Anti-Theft. So I don’t know what could be blocking it. There were two preinstalled apps, AT&T Protect and Lookout. Both of those are disabled.
I use many apps that require internet access over 4G and AMS is the only one having a problem.
Hi, I was informed that the guys from Support have recorded the same problem, but have not yet got any idea what causes it. They are trying to find out. They also say it often helps to clear the app data. I will let you know, if I get any other information.
Thanks davidc1857,
I got your GUID. Unfortunately I don’t see any errors on our side.
Do other avast services work for you while on 4G? Like webshield (try web-shield-test.avast.com or avasts.com in your browser), or even our website.
Ondra
Everything else seems to be working like it should. I checked the web shield test page and the avast home page. I have anti-theft installed also and it appears to be working as it should.
