Avast Mobile Security on S4 Lollipop drains battery fast

A long time supporter and licensed user of Avast on PCs and Macs decided to try Avast Mobile security on my Samsung S4 running Lolipop (5.0.1) but it drained the battery. e.g.Battery usage stats of 23% use by Avast Mobile Security when the next user was Android OS at 5%. I have uninstalled Avast Mobile Security and battery drain has stopped.

Anyone have any ideas whether to just forget about using Mobile Security on my S4 or is there something that can be done?

The super paranoid conspiracy theory says its undetected malware designed to make Avast drain the battery at a ridiculous level so users uninstall it ;D

Hi, do you use any cleaner app? It might be killing AMS in the background, and as AMS is designed to get started again, there can be a repetitive process of killing-startig-killing-starting-etc. In such case, the battery consumption would certainly rise. If you whitelist AMS in the cleaner app, the battery consumption should get back to normal.
