I’m currently using Chrome to keep the web shield scanning active, as the differences in mobile browsers aren’t as great. I haven’t tried Opera yet, I think that also works with AMS, web shield.
However to your main question, over the last week I have checked out a number of android AVs, I normally start by looking at the Google Play feedback scores and comments, usually the dissatisfied ones first and some are downright shocking.
I have also tried a few and they haven’t lasted very long at all. I have mainly been looking at the mainstream players in the Windows arena with android apps, the free ones tend to be virtually crippled, pushing towards paid versions.
But my other issue (complicates matters even further) of having a Samsung phone (two) on Android 11 (nightmare) and a Samsung Tablet, thankfully still on Android 10.
Even less chance of that (ASB Chromium based) than using Chrome and I’m currently using Chrome and looking at other browsers, the fact that Avast Mobile Security, Web Shield basically supports Chrome and Opera according r@vast.
So anyone living under the misapprehension (for god knows how long) that the web shield is protecting them, has either been lucky or using Chrome or Opera.
