Avast moved ArcGIS to virus chest, I cannot use anymore - please help!

Hi Guys,

I have an issue here with my Avast! Free v.8.0 running on a Win7 (64-bit) platform. Avast moved one of the core files of ArcGIS (v.9.3) to virus chest as suspicious file (supposedly infected by “Win32: Evo-gen”). I learnt that this file is highly unlikely to be infected, so it seems to be a false positive action of the antivirus. Nevertheless, I cannot make Avast to ignore it, and this blocks my favourite GIS software to run.
Can anybody please help with some smart ideas how to move the file back from the virus chest of Avast?

Thanks,
Gabor

The best way to solve your problem is to send ArcGis core file to Avast and report it as FP action/detection.

You can send ArcGIS core file to Avast via:

-VirusChest
-virus@avast.com (Made Zip/Rar file and protect it with password(False)

Thank you.

Bye

Hello.
If you right click on the item in the virus chest there is a restore option.
Also i would add ArcGIS to your exclusions list so avast does not scan it again.

Thanks.

Oh, thank you all guys for your advices! I will notify the community how they worked!

All the bests,
