Hello, I recently was infected with the w32 Jeefo worm, and while doing a boot scan, Avast moved many of my EXE’s to the Data/Moved folder, Since its not in the chest, I can’t seem to use the Chest tool to restore them. I have already disinfected the files that are there, and wish to restore them to their folders. Does avast have any way to restore files that are Moved during boot scan?
That would depend on what version you were using at the time you ran the boot scan.
Prior to the 4.6.719 - 4.6.726 beta versions and the latest version (newly released) of avast 4.6.731, there was no way of recording the location the files originated from as the windows and chest function weren’t running.
So if you have an earlier version of avast, this information wasn’t recorded, unfortunately there is no automated way to restore the files.
Okay, I’m trying to find what version I have, but I can’t seem to find it. Is it somewhere in the EXE? Or is there a readme file? I’m thinking that I’m probably just missing it.
I know that I have version 4.6, what build though I’m not sure.
Okay, I just found it, and I have build 4.6.691.
Oh well, I suppose I will try and restore what I can manually. Thanks a lot for the help DavidR.
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon and choose ‘About avast’…
Yeah, I found it, guess I just missed it. Thanks again.
Your welcome, sorry we couldn’t help more, manual restoration is/was a bit of a pain, thankfully this has now been resolved for the future.
Welcome to the forums.
