I’ve been getting a nagscreen from avast for a few days now. I think it always happens when an update comes thru. My license is good till March 2011.
Do I get the nagscreen because I’m still using version 4.8 or because it’s the free version?

you can download avast from download & trial tab…after installation enter yyour previous activation data…& remove your previous avast fully before installing avast 5…

Whether or not you go from 4.8 to 5.0, another 256MB RAM would make your “6 years old” seem like a mere 4 year old.;D

You can upgrade to V5 of avast! as it is much better and has been available for almost a year. 8)
By the way V5.1 is due out very soon.
It is more likely that support for avast 4.8 will cease before your license expires (Possibly at the end of this year). Avast5 has been out for over 10 months, so they are making a push to get those who have yet to update to move to avast5 before the plug is pulled.
Avast5 is lighter on resources than avast 4.8 and boy do you need help on resources.
