Avast new engine hijacked browser

I wonder if any tecchy can help. I updated the engine for my free !Avast this morning, as suggested. Unfortunately the update from !Avast also installed Google Chrome on my pc, which I did not ask for , not get any notification that !Avast was going to do this. !Avast also installed a really wicked MyStart Incredibar… this is nonsense, and I am seriously thinking of looking for alternative virus protection.

Read - Mystart.incredibar.com is malicious redirect virus, also known as browser hijacker. Mystart.incredibar.com pretends to be helpful search engine, but it is not reliable. It infiltrates into the compromised PC system without a user’s knowledge and permission and cheats innocent users.

Mystart.incredibar.com is Very Dangerous:
■Mystart.incredibar.com is installed without your consent
■Mystart.incredibar.com redirects you to an unwanted web browser
■Mystart.incredibar.com creates numerous links to advertising pages
■Mystart.incredibar.com comes integrated with lots of spyware and adware parasites
■Mystart.incredibar.com can cause the infected computer work slow and it’s difficult to remove Mystart.incredibar.com

How come updating the !Avast enging this morning caused me all these headaches? Please advice a.s.a.p.

Avast does not install incredibar

During the installation of Avast you are offered Chrome, just remove the tick to refuse

Thanks, essexboy… I guess I was lazy and didn’t notice the tick box to refuse chrome. I have uninstalled Chrome. Now I have to find out how to delete the stupid MyStart from Windows Internet Explorer.
Used to live in Romford, googles of ages ago (1969).

Run a quick OTL scan and I will remove it for you - I left Romford way back in the 60’s as well ;D

Download OTL to your Desktop

[*]Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

[*]When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

Hi,

Same problem here with Incredibar. What do you mean by “post both logs”? I downloaded OTL and did the scan, but what do I need to do now? Has it been removed?
