Let me first introduce myself.
I am pro adobe photoshop and illustrator user and graphic adviser.
Finally I’m avast free home user.
If I can do anything for avast! I’ll do it for free.
I started this topic to start making avast look better, to talk about what needs to be done.
In my county we have proverb: suit makes man! I believe that’s true.
I would like to say one thing to main people in avast: if you are good in something never do it for free, if you do it for free ask something back for free.
I have few friends (computer pro’s) who don’t use avast because it does not fit into their computer because of how it looks.
Let’s make a new suit for avast!
What I don’t like and how I would like it to be coming soon.
I can never realy undestand why people say they wont have Avast because they dont like the inteface etc.I could not realy care less what it looks like as long as i can understand how to use it and it works well wich it does. What do people want it to do,play a tune and have flashing lights when its running. When i run a scan i normaly put the kettle on,have a brew and leave it to it.I think some people must have more money than sense when they go and buy a alternate anti virus to avast for such a dumb reason. But then again i am a bit on the tight side and wont pay for what i can get free.Plus i am medicaly retired and dont have the money to waste on frivolities like a singing dancing interface.
For me aesthetics come a poor second to function/protection.
I don’t think I have ever considered even the default skins ugly or so bad as to look for another AV solution, when there are more skins than you can shake a stick at and the new interface shows a lot of promise.
I converted to avast over four and a half years ago from an average AV (well that is the full word from the abbreviation for that word) and that wasn't because it had an ugly interface (though it wouldn't win any beauty contest), but because of a number of issues and aesthetics wasn't one of them ;D
The skin is only eye candy. That certainly isn’t a reason for choosing your Antivirus program.
I agree with FWF, after 4 years, I still have problems with the current confusing GUI.
Hopefully the new version will rectify this problem.
After 4 years I do not find any problems with the GUI (though I will not be giving it any awards as great) and the folks I support are not complaining about it either … different folks … different strokes I suppose.
I have the one like a car radio cassette and have never thought of changing it.I think it looks quite neat and am happy with it.When i hover my mouse over any of the switchs it tells me what they are for.I have no problems with it. ;D.
