Avast not booting up with phone

Avast doesnt start up when i switch on the phone or reboot my phone
i thought this was a problem with my previous custom rom checkrom , but i have changed it to sensation rom and still the problem persists
i have a galaxy s2 [ rooted ]

Which version…??

had this problem with the beta and now the final

I have just rebooted my device and avast! is up and running.

What device and OS version you have? Is it rooted?

Filip

See his initial post.

Still no info about the OS version

True.

Sorry got the mail just now that reply has been posted
android version 2.3.6
baseband - I9100XXXKI4
Kernel - siyah kernel 2.5.2
Rom - sensation rom 3

Hmm, Sensation ROM 3 is a custom ROM, right? Not sure we will be able to simulate it here.

Filip

Yes custom rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194765
So what should i do now ?

Nothing i can do ? :frowning:

Probably not unless we get some time to install the ROM you are using and try it there. It works fine on stock ROMs.

Filip

I dont think its rom specific … i was having the same problem with checkrom
and i noticed one thing … i was using es task manager to see which apps are running after i rebooted my phone but avast wasnt showing there
then i used zdbox and avast is showing up in there as well in services but there is no notification icon in the status bar until i open the avast ui myself
just installed advaned task killer and avast is shown in it but no notificiation icon

im just installing miui rom for fun and will report back again

How many process and services of avast are supposed to start when the phone starts ?

Can’t really say that precisely cause I don’t remember. If you have Web Shield and notification icon turned on, then Web Shield should start for sure.

Filip

Thank u filip…found the cause - the cause is webshield
i had webshield disabled because i dont use the default browser

with webshield disabled when i start the phone - no notification icon and these are the services started as seen in settings - applications - running services
webshieldservice
updateservice
avast mobile security

with webshield enabled there is avast icon in the notification bar and there are the same running services as above

Hi there,

I have the same issue. If webshield is disabled, avast icon doesn’t appear into notification bar when booting the phone. If enabled, icon appears during the boot. Is this a bug or by design?

Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660
Android 2.3.3 (rooted stock ROM)

Hi Jekku,

you do have the notification icon turned on in the application settings, right?

Filip

The_Champ, how do you know, that Avast will not start after reboot?

Hi Filip,

Yes, I have the icon enabled in the application settings.
