Avast not detect Eicar when DOWNLOAD!

I download eicar test virus sample.

Not detect:

Why?

Just download files, nothing happens. I scan folder, threat has been detected. Quick scan say PC is clean. Full Scan detect them. Why Avast not detect this when i download them?

Here avast caught every file of eicar.

You downloaded from the ssl-connection (https). That cannot be scanned, because of ssl. That’s normal behaviour. The threat however will be detected after download when you try to open/run/access the file.

Probably you are not fully correct. This effect is nornal but it is due to different sensitivity of Web Shield and File Shield. By default Web Shield scans all downloaded files with any extension. And it is Web Shield who is detecting files in the case of http protocol. Yes, is the case of https Web Shield is not used, so files should be scanned on disk write by File Shield. But default disk write File Shield settings are to scan only files with predefined extensions (e.g. .com). In principle these setting can be changed to include either user extensions or all files.

Yes, psw, of course.
But webshield doesn’t scan https, that’s my point I’m trying to make. If file shield is set to all files, it will detect - but nevertheless only after download.
Anyway: avast prevents, that harm is done - sooner or later. ;D
