Avast will not detect some viruses, some over a year old. For example, Dropper.Gen(referred to as such by Avira). This is with the very latest version of avast, and latest updates. Any idea why?
Posting multiple topics about the same thing won’t resolve it any quicker you should stick to the original topic, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=36482.msg305967#msg305967.
That way all the information is in the one place, for each post the original topic would effectively be bumped chronologically to the top of the list.
Have you sent a sample to avast ?
Send the sample to virus@avast.com zipped and password protected with the password in email body, a link to this topic might help and undetected malware in the subject.

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here. This action will not only confirm the detection but any of the scanners that don’t detect it will eventually be sent a sample.
